Future STEM Initiatives

Building on the success of our Water Quality Testing Program, Greater Toledo Heritage and Horizons envisions expanding its STEM education programs to include new technologies, citizen science, and deeper school partnerships.

Expanding Opportunities

Future initiatives will explore sensor-based data collection, drone-assisted ecological surveys, and advanced environmental monitoring tools. By working with local educators, students will gain exposure to applied science and engineering principles that connect directly to rural community life.

Community Engagement

We aim to involve volunteers, parents, and local experts in STEM-driven projects that promote environmental awareness and public service. Each project is designed to inspire curiosity and to strengthen local connections between education, heritage, and stewardship.

Partner and Sponsor Involvement

Partnerships with regional schools, nonprofits, and sponsors are essential to expand these programs. By supporting these initiatives, partners help empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and community leaders rooted in the Cowlitz Valley.

Long-Term Vision

Our goal is to build a sustainable, ongoing framework for rural STEM education — one that supports teachers, engages students, and preserves our region’s environmental and cultural legacy for decades to come.
